Costume: Fennec Shand

In the Mandalorian, Din Djarin crosses paths with Fennec Shand, a master assassin, bounty hunter and sharp shooter played by Ming-Na Wen. We wanted to have Fennec as one of the characters for this year’s Halloween house.

To make her outfit, I started with a black jumpsuit and added the shoulder sleeve extensions.

I then worked on her boots, choosing to use boot toppers. I used thin orange gaffer’s tape to replicate the orange striped pattern of Fennec’s boots.

I repeated that technique for the gloves.

Fennec has long leather leg protectors, which sport an orange, triangular pattern. I cut these out of black vinyl and added the orange pattern, using the same tape. I added them to a black Jedi belt that we had lying around.

She has what appears to be a communicator on her lapel, so I made one by creating shapes in Adobe Illustrator, cutting those shapes out using my laser cutter, gluing them together, painting them and adding magnetic nametag fasteners to the back to attach it to the jumpsuit.

I had gotten a black motorcycle helmet at a theater’s going-out-of-business sale (it already had an orange visor!) and I painted the top to simulate that of Fennec’s helmet.

Everything came together to outfit our friend to protect the streets of Nevarro at our house on Halloween (oh, and she will have a big gun, too.)

Try to spot Fennec Shand at our house on Halloween night!
