a Galaxy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, we had a <a title=\"Community Painting Day\" href=\"http:\/\/www.albertzone.com\/halloween\/2012\/09\/we-painted-mos-eisley\/\" target=\"_blank\">painting day<\/a>, where lots of cardboard got painted, but how do we choose the colors?\u00a0 I would love to say I had a fancy method for choosing the colors, but for me, it just comes down to figuring it out with some small acrylic paints, some paper plates and a piece of cardboard (to make sure the color will work when we paint it on cardboard later).<\/p>\n<p>Here is a photo of my process for this year&#8217;s Halloween house.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.albertzone.com\/halloween\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/046_Paint_01.jpg\" class=\"gallery_colorbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1028\" title=\"Paint Mixing for Albertson Halloween House 2012\" 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 501px) 100vw, 501px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I looked at pictures from the Mos Eisley scenes from <strong>Star Wars: A New Hope<\/strong> and did my best to approximate them with the paints I had.\u00a0 I knew I needed a yellowish-sandy color for most of the buildings.\u00a0 But, I also wanted those buildings to have\u00a0a sand-like texture.\u00a0 I had seen people do that by sponging on a slightly different color, so I went for that approach and came up with a Silly Putty color that seemed to do the trick.\u00a0 Next was the rust-orange for the doors and an off-white for moisture vaporators.\u00a0\u00a0For the Star Tours vehicle I decided that the white\u00a0that I was going to use for the moisture vaporators would work nicely for the main color, so all that remained was to find a blue for the tricked-out trim (I decided to go old-Star Tours and go with the blue and white motif).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.albertzone.com\/halloween\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/047_Paint_02.jpg\" class=\"gallery_colorbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1029\" title=\"2012 Paint Swatches\" src=\"http:\/\/www.albertzone.com\/halloween\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/047_Paint_02.jpg\"  alt=\"\" width=\"501\" height=\"395\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.albertzone.com\/halloween\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/047_Paint_02.jpg 626w, https:\/\/www.albertzone.com\/halloween\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/047_Paint_02-300x236.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 501px) 100vw, 501px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once I was happy with the colors, I cut them out, took them to Lowes (cheapest and fastest paint mixer in town) and was ready to paint the town red.\u00a0 Well, yellow, Silly Putty,\u00a0rust-orange, off-white and blue.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, we had a painting day,
