After blocking out the shapes for the background mountains, I cut them out and glued them together. They ended up being pretty big, one of which was 16 ft. long!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once I had those, I brought those out to the front. I also brought out the Styrofoam columns as well, so that I could have them as a reference as I figured out the size and shape of the low ‘stone’ wall that would go from the columns to the other side of the yard, just in front of the swirl, mountains and moon. There is a low stone wall in most of the scenes of the Nightmare Before Christmas so I wanted to create one for this year’s house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I put my 8 ft. X 4 ft. sheets of foam next to the columns and then sketched out the shape that would cover the background elements and match the look from the movie. I then cut the foam in place, testing the pieces as I went to ensure a good fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I then repeated the process for the other side of the yard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I brought out the inflatable Mayor that we got and set him up where he will be, so that when I carved the wall, it would line up with his position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
