In the Mandalorian series, Dr. Penn Pershing is the Imperial scientist responsible for performing tests on Grogu to determine how to use the child’s unique characteristics for the re-emerging Empire. We wanted to have him be one of the costumed characters at this year’s Halloween house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make this costume, I bought a gray suit coat from the thrift store as the base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I then sewed Velcro down the front so that instead of having the lapels open in the front at the neck, the fabric stayed smooth across the front. Instead of sewing white fabric onto the suit coat, I decided to just paint the top area white, so I masked off the area that needed painting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I painted the top part white. (NOTE: I had purchased what I thought was white fabric paint, but I had gotten the wrong thing. I wasn’t able to use white fabric paint due to timing, so I used just regular craft acrylic white paint for this, which can make fabric a little stiff. If you are making this costume, I would highly encourage that you use fabric paint, as it will be more flexible.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I then masked off the areas that would be black and, again not sewing on black fabric, I painted (yep, acrylic craft paint again) those areas black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Pershing has a patch on his right shoulder area. I traced the shape of it onto fabric and used white paint to paint in the details. I then cut it out and stitched it to the uniform shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That completed the uniform part of the costume. I bought some circular glasses online and added a belt (the belt buckle is just a rectangular belt buckle blank which you can get from fabric or leather stores). Our friend who will be playing Dr. Penn Pershing will supply dark pants and shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
