This post is a continuation from the previous AT-RT Rising post.<\/strong><\/a> In that post, I showed how I built the legs of the AT-RT. In this post, I will show the next part\u2014how I built the top driver area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The design of an AT-RT is a cross between an AT-ST and a motorcycle. It is operated by one person sitting on top holding on to handle bars to drive it. It is featured in the Mandalorian and Grogu <\/em>movie (and can also be seen in the Clone Wars<\/em> and Revenge of the Sith<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the top part of the AT-RT, I started with a large bike box that I got at a local bike shop. I scored and cut the box to get the general shape of the seat area for the driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside the box, I mounted PVC pipes, which I would eventually connect to a mannequin driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From there, I cut an additional bike box to begin to form the angled front part of the AT-RT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I added some PVC handlebars, some wood foot pedals and some empty Clorox Wipes containers on the back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up was paint. I painted it the same gray color as the legs would be and added some Imperial symbols with a template that I had cut out on my laser cutter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the top part, I painted the legs gray, and painted the support areas (that I didn’t want visitors to focus on) black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, most of the pieces are painted. A bit more work needs to be done, but hopefully we will see an AT-RT watching over the crowd on Halloween night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
