It’s amazing what you can make with free stuff!\u00a0 This year has been a huge year for free items (though each year we manage to rely heavily on free items).\u00a0 Here are some choice items that have found their way to us:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>1) Two giant branch\/trees pre-cemented into pots.<\/strong>\u00a0 We found these babies on the side of the road.\u00a0 Don’t they look like coral?\u00a0 Add a little\u00a0paint and they are good to go!<\/p>\n

2) Cardboard tubes.<\/strong>\u00a0 My company was looking to unload these and I said, “Hey, I’ll take ’em!”\u00a0\u00a0They got to live another day as tube coral for Nemo and his friends.<\/p>\n

3) AstroTurf.<\/strong>\u00a0 This was destined for the dumpster, but veered left and was invited to come be a part of\u00a0our sea floor.<\/p>\n

4) Tree stump.<\/strong>\u00a0 A summer project in our backyard yielded a tree stump which when turned over and painted,\u00a0makes a pretty good undersea plant.<\/p>\n

5) Tree branches.<\/strong>\u00a0 After our peach tree died, it, like the Giving Tree, offered its branches for the enjoyment of kids.<\/p>\n

6) Cardboard.<\/strong>\u00a0 When my wife brought home huge, flat\u00a0cardboard from her work, I knew we would find something to do with it.\u00a0 Yay! Now Nemo characters can greet trick-or-treaters when they arrive.<\/p>\n

7) Rocks.<\/strong>\u00a0 We needed some blue aquarium rocks to complete the Mount Wannahockaloogie scene and our backyard dirt area yielded up lots of fine specimens.<\/p>\n
